Shannan has lived in Pulaski County most of her life. She has a wife, two kids, two cats, and one dog. She feels there is a need in this community for helping underprivileged kids realize their full potential. In her spare time she likes to hike, kayak and read. She is inspired by powerful women who aren't afraid to speak the truth. She loves authentic people who never hesitate to be themselves. She is passionate about WAAOTA because she knows what it is like to be an under-privileged child in the community. Her grandparents raised her on one income, so she knows the feeling of not having name brands clothes for school or not believing you can go to college based on your upbringing. Her personal hero is Maya Angelou - she overcame so much and never let it change her outlook on life.
